We have found that many patients are turned away from other varicose vein locations because of their weight but we are happy to treat obese patients after a bespoke full venous and medical assessment has been carried out.

The symptoms that obese patients may suffer from are exactly the same as with other cases but they may find that the swelling and the condition of the skin is worse – and there is a higher risk of leg ulcers.

Here at the British Vein Varicose Centre we have developed a special pull back technique called ‘tactile feedback’ where a state of the art radial laser fibre machine is used. This specialist technique closes the varicose veins and has been found to be extremely reliable.

We have found that we are able to successfully treat patients weighing up to 20 stone (127kg) with this technique using just a local anaesthetic.
